Board Exam Preparation: A 90-Day Study Plan for Class 10 & 12

Ninety days before the board exams is the perfect time to get serious. Long enough to fix weak areas, short enough to stay focused. Divide the time into three phases.
Days 1–45: Complete and strengthen
- List every chapter and mark it green (confident), yellow (shaky) or red (weak).
- Finish any pending syllabus first, then spend 60% of study time on red chapters.
- Make one-page summary notes per chapter: formulas, definitions, diagrams.
- Study in 50-minute blocks with 10-minute breaks. Aim for 5–6 blocks a day.
Days 46–75: Practise like the real exam
- Solve the last 5 years' board papers and sample papers, timed, under exam conditions.
- Check answers against the marking scheme. Board examiners reward steps and keywords.
- Keep an "error log": every mistake goes into a notebook with the correct method.
Days 76–90: Revise and rest
- Revise only from your summary notes and error log, not the full textbook.
- Do one full paper every alternate day to keep your speed up.
- Sleep 7–8 hours. Memory consolidates during sleep, so all-nighters do more harm than good.
Where a tutor helps most
A good tutor shortens phase one dramatically by fixing weak concepts quickly, and makes phase two far more effective by reviewing your answer-writing. If you are short on time, even 3 days a week of focused tutoring can make a big difference.
